  "My Aunt Leonore did not have an easy life. You will notice that her first two children died as infants. I asked my mother what from but I guess in those days there were no known reasons."
  
  "Aunt Leonore had a large heart and what else I don't remember. She was sickly most of her life. She had to be many times near to doctors because of her condition when she was ill. This meant staying at our house on those occasions. They lived in Bruningsville – a distance of two to three miles south from town. It was necessary that she was near a doctor, and we lived in Rogers City and had extra bedrooms. This meant son Ralph was there also. Husband, Uncle Charlie Schram stayed at home. I can't remember how many times this was, but it was many. She finally died in 1940 and was buried from St. John's Lutheran Church and buried in the Rogers City Cemetery. Ralph and I were both 12 years old at the time. Also the Lutheran School children sang for the funeral which included me singing. I had told my mother I wanted to be with the mourners, but she convinced me easily that the best spot for me was singing."
  
  "As I said they lived in Bruningsville and a road runing straight west from their road was a farm which was known as the Wenzel Poor Farm. Here is where the older, destitute, and frayed and whatever reason, were placed when no one else would care for them. I remember at Christmas time our Lutheran School would go out and sing for these people. It was a big deal when Pastor Linn would be along."

  Daughter of Charles 'Carl' Zinke (son of & (2nd marriage) Wilhelmine Alvine Hoeft (daughter of Johann Hoeft & Caroline Lietzow); step-daughter of Christian Brege. Charles was or most likely was a nephew of Jacob Zinke, and thus would have been a cousin of Max Zinke's father, Albert.
